Accrual schedule
Your accrual schedule defines how you would like your policy to accrue leave based on variables including start date, amount, and carryover.
Start leave accruement
The period of time before an employee becomes eligible for leave under this policy.
First accrual
If the first accrual of this policy is set to Prorate, then on their first accrual under this policy an employee will only be entitled to a portion of the leave amount due for the accrual cycle, which will be proportionate to the time they have worked relative the accrual cycle period.
If the first accrual of this policy is set to Prorate, then on their first accrual under this policy an employee will only be entitled to a portion of the leave amount due for the accrual cycle, which will be proportionate to the time they have worked relative the accrual cycle period.
First accrual example:
If a policy has an Accrual cycle of 4 days monthly on the 1st.
Then Bob joins the company on the 15th of January.
If the first accrual was set to Full Amount he would receive 4 days on the 1st of February.
If the first accrual was set to Prorate he would receive 2 days on the 1st of February.
Accrual cycle
The amount of leave an employee will accrue under this policy based on the selected frequency and accrual cycle date.
Carryover Amount
The amount of leave (balance) an employee is eligible to carryover (retain) into the next year.
An Unlimited carryover amount should be selected if there is no restriction on how much leave an employee can accrue and carryover year to year under this policy.
If the carryover amount is capped then a date must be selected on which the cap (restriction) on the employee's leave balance will become effective.
