Release notes June
Behind every new feature and product update we announce with fanfare, a big bang, and plenty of pomp and ceremony, is a maintenance and enhancement release that quietly goes about its business, making life incrementally better for Synergy users. Always crucial, but arguably demure. These are the unsung heroes of software development. Some people won't notice a change, others will nearly fall off their chairs with excitement at the small adjustment that made their working day a better place.
The June product update is one of these unsung heroes. This month we bring you improvements to your project accounting functions and another update to the ever-evolving resource planning.

Weekly resourcing
Budget indicator
In the planning board, once you click on a budget indicator, it now stays open until you close it. Go ahead and tinker with your resources to get your planning just right. Read more
Templates
We know all your projects follow some pattern and you can fine-tune your project from the outset to save you time in the long run.
- Split a role's allocation from your project templates and every new project will be planned in this way.
- Templates can be more granular, resource at a weekly level.
Planning board in planning mode
- You can now split bars in planning mode just like you would in delivery mode. It just make sense to plan your project right from the outset, right?
- Wouldn’t it be cool if you shrunk a role’s allocation so much, you are able to see how many people it would take to do the work in that amount of time? Read about what we’ve done when you adjust the duration of the resource pills. Read more
Resource sidebar
You can just keep dragging the slider for a resource to accommodate the amount of work that you need done. New bars will then appear to indicate when you have exceeded a resource’s weekly capacity.
Planning board in delivery mode
Grid view
Our customers are a hard-working bunch, so when you have assigned a resource in the schedule (Gantt chart) and are in delivery mode, you can add as many hours as you want from the grid view. You’ll know they’re overallocated because the cell will be in red. Read more
Staff member sidebar
When dragging the slider scale to allocate hours for a staff member, we’ve limited this per drag. As an added visual aid – when you hit 105%, the slider will change to red. Just that little bit extra to help manage your resources that little bit better. Read more
Invoicing
Credit returning to WIP
Have you invoiced your client but want to remove some transactions? It happens. The credit returning to WIP feature will help you do just that. Read more
- You will see these transactions in the project financials as well.
Invoices
Invoices now generate in the background! No more waiting around. Go ahead and work on that next project. You will receive a notification in Synergy when your invoice is ready.
Subscriptions
You can now select how many users are allowed access to the Synergy app and you can also pick who these staff members are, all from the subscriptions page. Read more
Reports
When you create a new report, we now have tooltips that describe the reporting columns. This helps alleviate any confusion especially when two columns are very similar, which they sometimes are.
Transmittals
You now don’t need to be part of Synergy to access transmittals.
