Edit your Synergy profile to include a profile picture, and add your contact details. Link all your business email addresses to keep all your Synergy organization and portal invitations linked within the one Synergy account.
What is the profile?
During the initial setup, your profile is created for Synergy to store your username and password. Each organization or project portal that you are invited to can then be linked to the same Synergy profile account.
Update your details to include the first and last name, and add a profile picture that you want to show in Synergy. Add your business email address(es) and social accounts into the linked identities panel, to ensure that all your portal or organization invitations are linked to this Synergy profile.
Only users with directors access and above will be able to see your personal information - private mobile, private phone, private fax, and home address.
Actions available
Setup your profile
After creating your Synergy account, complete the following steps to finish setting up your Synergy profile:

Type your first and last name.

Upload a profile picture.

Check the time zone and display language are correct. Select an alternate option from the drop-down list if required.,

Type your contact phone (office) or mobile (cell) phone numbers.

Type your business postal or street address.

Add your work email addresses or social accounts into the 'linked identities' panel.

Confirm each email address added to the 'linked identities' panel to ensure that all the organizations linked are shown.
When a profile is first created a default profile picture is added. This is shown as your 'current profile pic' and is the initials from your first and last name.
The 'other pics' section allows you to:
- Upload a new image - click the '+' button to upload an image from your device to use as the profile picture. The profile picture box allows for a 500 px by 500 px image. If the image uploaded is larger than that, the top 500 px of the uploaded image will be shown as the profile picture.
- Use a gravatar image - if you have a Gravatar account then the image available for your primary linked email address is shown. Select the gravatar image shown to use that image as your profile picture.
The email address that you registered with is shown in the 'current linked identities' panel. Add any extra business email addresses or social accounts that you use, to ensure that all of your Synergy organization or project portal invitation are all linked to the one account.
After linking an email address a confirmation email is sent out. Make sure that you click the link in that confirmation email to verify your account. Only verified email accounts will display the linked organizations in your profile.
Set primary email
Choose which 'linked identity' is your primary email address. The primary address is used to check for Gravatar profile images and is where any Synergy updates will be sent.
Select the primary address by selecting the row action button > select the 'Set as primary email address' option.
Update the password to use to login to Synergy when using the email address or username login methods. Update your password by:
- Open your profile page.
- Select the page action button > choose the 'change password' option.
- Type your current password.
Note: If you initially signed-up for Synergy with a social account (Google / Microsoft / LinkedIn / Office 365) then leave the current password field blank, and just enter the new password. - Type the new password and confirmation password to match.
- Save.
- You can now login to Synergy with your email address or username, and enter the newly updated password.
Use the 'merge profile' feature if you have accidentally created two Synergy profiles. This could happen if you have not linked all your email addresses to your profile, and you create another user profile using your alternate work email address by mistake. Merge your two Synergy accounts together by:
- Login to the Synergy profile account you want to delete.
- Open Edit Profile.
- Select the page action button > choose the 'Merge Profile' option.
- Copy and paste the code shown in Step 2 into a blank document.
- Logout of the account you are deleting.
- Login using the Synergy account you want to keep.
- Select the page action button > choose the 'Merge Profile' option.
- Copy and paste the code from the blank document into the field at 'Step 4'.
- Click Save.
- The profiles have been combined and all the email addresses are shown in the linked identities panel.
Tips:
- The merge account process is most easily done on a PC, as copy and paste of a string of text is required.
- If you have not created any organizations, then try 'deleting the profile' to remove the account. Then add the email address to your other account as a linked identity.
Use this option to export all the profile details to an Excel file. This can be useful for GDPR regulated countries in the EU to be able to provide an export of the personal data that is stored in Synergy. Read more in the Synergy GDPR guide.
This will excel export will include the details from your profile only. You cannot export the details from any other Synergy users profile. The profile picture, linked email addresses, or linked organizations are not exported.
Export your profile data by:
- Open Synergy and select the profile picture menu in the top right corner > select profile.
- Click the page action button > select the 'Export profile to Excel' option.
- An excel file is downloaded to your device that contains the personal data stored in your Synergy profile. Open the file to view the details.
Remove your Synergy account when you have created it in error. This can be used instead of merging the profiles, to delete one Synergy account and then add the email address from the deleted account to the account to keep in the linked identities panel.
Delete a profile by:
- Login to the Synergy profile account you want to delete.
- Open Edit Profile.
- Select the page action button > choose the 'Delete' option.
- Click the 'delete' button on the confirmation pop-up.
- Your profile has been deleted, and you have been automatically logged out of Synergy.

Tip: Add your other work email addresses as 'linked identities' to make sure you see all the organizations and project portals that you have been invited to in Synergy.
