Use the project work breakdown structure to set up what work is required to complete all the project deliverables.
Organize the project work into sections that must be completed using:
- Phases - group together stages of work to show phase revenue totals on reports, and phase totals on the invoice to the client.
- Stages - setup a stage for each major deliverable for the project. Stages are shown on the invoice, and control how the invoicing process works with the stage fee types.
- Tasks - create tasks to outline the steps required to complete the goals for the stage. Set a due date for the task to set when staff should the work completed. Staff select tasks when entering timesheets.
There are two types of project work breakdown structure:
- Simple project
- Full work breakdown structure
A simple work breakdown structure is created by default to allow the project fee to be easily invoiced to the client. Simple projects only have tasks (no phases or stages).
For larger projects use the full work breakdown structure to define the project phases, stages and tasks.
